Always inspired by our favourite artisans, we discovered Kimberly Cruz, a potter specialising in organic shapes inspired by nature. We visited Kimberly at her Sydney studio to play with her medium, clay, and our new collection ROSA.

Other than pottery, what other creative outlets do you gravitate towards?
Cooking and hiking. Cooking because that was one of the earliest things my Papa had taught me to do at age 5 and has stayed with me since. It's so similar to ceramics or any art form; You need to learn the rules first before you can break them...and by nature I've always been a rule breaker.

Hiking because that's where I'm the most inspired to create new work. It bleeds into my aesthetics - speckles, rough textures, earthy colours. You simple need to look to nature for creativity.

How would you describe your personal style?
I grew up with two brothers playing lots of sport. As much as I love all things feminine, I default back to my sneakers and sweats any chance I get.

Gold or silver? Diamonds or pearls?
I never grew up wearing jewellery. I’m also a very rough and tumble girl. Constantly marching and bashing about, always running late, breaking and losing things - so I’ve never found a way to incorporate the finesse of jewellery into my hectic lifestyle. When I discovered ROSA, I understood how truly beautiful jewellery could be.

What was your favourite piece from our ROSA collection?
The ROSA earrings. Definitely the earrings. I like how even in metal state, SARAH & SEBASTIAN has managed to capture the fragility and preciousness that embodies the rose petal. Truly artful. I can’t wait to wear them to my upcoming pop-up stall. I’ve got my whole outfit planned around those rose petals.

What does your ideal Sunday look like?
I haven’t gotten much sleep for the longest time. My problem and addiction is I that I over-commit. An ideal Sunday or any day for that matter would be a real good sleep in without any schedules weighing over my head.
